Today saw another girl hit the 100 club for Wellie it was Libbie Latibeaudiere’s ton for the Welfare Girls, having joined the team in 2022 Libbie has developed into an excellent centre back and a key player in this team this season.
The funds will go towards a well deserved treat for the girls in January.
What the Managers have to say:
Darren (Retford Manager) "We have never beaten Armthorpe, so it will be a very hard game at the Wembley of the North. Hopefully we can take confidence from our 100% home record this season and take the game to them"
Brendan "im very confident we can progress to the semi final of the cup, we have been getting better every week this season. we cannot underestimate Retford as they are always up for the fight. After missing last weekend due to the weather conditions we are desperate to get back on the pitch playing again.
Other games in the CUP
Askern Miners V Epworth Town Colts
Edenthorpe JFC V Adwick Park Rangers
Rossington FC V Denaby Main
Today marked Leah’s 100th game for the Wellie Girls, having made her debut a little over 2 years ago she has played the majority of the games despite having to juggle Saturdays with the U12 boy’s training. During these 100 games she has emerged as a key player in this team as a box to box midfielder and has a great goal scoring record from midfield. Let hope Leah can have a successful second hundred too. She joins Lexi and Neve in the 100 club.
The Girls wore poppies on there chest with pride today and also took a minuets silence before the match. as they paid respects to all the heroes and their familes who lost thier life while serving our country.
Massive thank you to all who have raised money to kit out the girls ready for the winter (if it ever comes) with new Body Warmers. there's been some great fundraising this season from Faye, Sam, Jodie and especially Natalie. we truly couldn't do this without it.
After a dominant win over Doncaster Belles in the last round, Armthorpe Welfare have drawn Retford FC Away in the last 8. these 2 old rivals have not met yet this season and will prove to be a tough game. The last time these teams played each other was in the Retford tournament where Armthorpe won both encounters in close games.
Other ties include Epworth travelling to Askern, Edenthorpe after needing extra time to progress will host League leaders Adwick and a great chance for one of the bottom 2 to progress to the semi finals as Rossington welcome Denaby.
The Games will take place on the 30th November and all League games originally scheduled here will be moved to a later date
With the club having a fundraising event to raise money for a new toilet facility at Shaw Wood, the girls team played their part with coaches Brendan and Gaz taking part for team coaches and Connor Hone (Libbie’s Dad), Tony Petch (Millie Ann’s Dad) and Adam Sayles (Olivia’s dad) all playing for team parents. There was lots of fun had and some questionable football but all for a good cause.
Also a great turnout from other players and parents to sit in the stands and cheer both teams on.
Big shout out to Lexi too who was making and selling bracletts on the day to raise more cash for mission Khazi
STATEMENT ON SOCIAL MEDIA
On the 1st of September this beautiful beautiful boy Riley Townsend at just 12 years of age fell asleep and gained his angel wings. Riley was suffering from adhd/autism and the worst.. mental health issues. Riley was the kindest and loveable child and the highlight of any party. With his cheekiness and cute little face Riley would make anyone smile. Such a polite kid. But unfortunately due to his mental health decided he couldn't cope in this world no more and took is own life. Being apart of some well know football clubs TERVERSAL FC & KIRKBY COLTS FC in the Ashfield area as of many children, Riley was football crazy. Being a super midfielder to a superstar centre back and occasionally sneaking in for his cracking goals. I'm asking you all as coaches/parents/referees if this weekend just before you first K.O of the season please could you spare 1 mins silence for this beautiful boy 12 is no age to be taking your own life and I want his parents to know we are with them
Please let us bring awareness
RIP Riley
